Have you thought to yourself, ok today is the day, I am going to make BIG changes to my routine and lifestyle and finally lose the weight and decrease my inflammation?
But then a couple of days later, you realize all of those changes were too difficult to keep up with and it felt easier to just go back to your old ways/habits?
Turns out, you are not alone.
The 'all or nothing' thought pattern actually sets us up to fail because massive change is not realistic and not sustainable. Changing habits takes time!
Instead, think about 1 or 2 small changes that you can create into new habits/routines and build upon those slowly. This leads to BIG results that will feel easy and become your new norm.
Here are some small habits / mini-swaps to get you started NOW:
1. Choose a savory breakfast over a sugary one:
Start the day stabilizing your blood sugar and nourishing your gut microbiome. This will lead to decreased sugar cravings, happy hormones and a healthier gut microbiome.
2. Bake at home with fruit as your sweetener:
Applesauce or bananas as a sweetener are delicious! This will also provide increased fiber for metabolism and your good gut bacteria and less processed ingredients overall.

3. Reduce sugar in your coffee/tea:
Start to cut the amount you are using gradually and over time your taste buds, gut lining and metabolism will thank you! For example, if you use 2 pumps at Starbucks, ask for 1.
4. Buy no-cook proteins:
Make life easier with grab and go proteins. Canned salmon, cooked chicken, chicken sausages, smoked salmon are some great staples to have on hand!
5. Slice up veggies for the next 3-4 days:
If you set aside 20 min of time on a Sunday, then you can easily add these to snacks and meals if they are already prepped on busy week days.
6. Experiment/replace sugar with new flavors coming from whole foods:
Add cinnamon or nutmeg to your coffee or greek yogurt, try vanilla extract in your oatmeal, add coconut water to your smoothie, use dates in homemade almond milk!
